CERAMICS ONE

Hi All, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! A reminder is that  Monday, November 27  is our final day of class and our Final presentations. The following is the procedure for our last day: Meet at 2pm in the lecture room for Blog presentations(which include :Artist statement,5 photos of your final sculpture in process) Bring a box to take home all you projects(unless you wish to donate any to the art department) Please place the artist statement sheet with your name on it, on my desk Please be sure all tools and supplies are thoroughly cleaned and placed on your own desk Place you last three projects on your desk in the following  order: Marbled platter mold,boxes,sculpture I am excited for our final critique!Blessings,Professor Harmon

Sculpture Projects Begin November 13 No class November 20,Thanksgiving Break November 27-Finals

Please come prepared with a sketch for your box and templates already cut out so you can form your box and bring imprints(see example above). Begin thinking of your final project,sculpture and get approval.

Meet in the lecture room for review of this project and then let us have fun!

  DUE AT MIDTERM:  Monday, October 23, week 10 (total points is 45points) Creation of a Pinterest page including 3 different ceramic artists, (3 pin boards with at least 3 pins per board) (10 points total) Introduction PowerPoint(5points)  (15%at midterm)  15 points total II-Projects: Includes 5 completed ceramics projects (30% at midterm)  30 point’s total . 1.Self-portrait (part 1) clay slab (5 points) with mirrors, engraved 2.Self Portrait/knee self-portrait, (Part 2), (5 points) additive 3.Andy Warhol pop transfer or Lichtenstein,3 panels together as a triptych (5 points) 4.2 Pinch pots; one with handles ,plate,spoon,food(10 points) 5.2Coil mold bowl (10 points)

Meet in the lecture room to review Midterms and Coil Bowl making and painitng.

Hi Everyone,  This week we are continuing with making our spoons,plates,cups with handles,and food . We also will be continue to paint.DO NOT MEET IN THE LECTURE ROOM!!We will simply work on painting and our cups,plates,spoons,food.CRIT at 3:30. Please remember to bring in acrylic paint,brushes,water cups for painting. ,Blessings,Professor Harmon

Example of pop art project(above) Week 3 we will have a critique at 3:30. Bring acrylic paints,water containers,palettes and brushes. We will work on out Pop art Projects and paint the other two projects.

MEET UPSTAIRS IN ROOM 206 at 2pm. We will have announcements and review projects one and  two. Selfies with incised marks and subtractive method.(see below) Selfies  with additive method(see below ) Gather all tools and begin kneading the clay and rolling out a slab. Our Second Project will be POP ART TRIPTYCHS OFA FAMOUS MOVIE STAR. So bring a print of your selfie and two packages of clay and wear old clothes with an old big shirt over them and the plastic tablecloth.Bring a print out of a famous person or someone you admire;poet,author,artist,musician and black gel pens.
